The wine Inferno Fiamme Antiche by the winery Ar.pe.pe
The Inferno Fiamme Antiche from the Arpepe winery is produced with 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown exclusively on the terraces that the winery owns on the steep and sunny slopes of Poggiridenti. The wine is called Inferno Fiamme Antiche (Hell Ancient Flames) because the vines grow on granite rock, which, when heated by the sun, seems to release flames.
THE WINEMAKING
After the manual harvest, which takes place at the end of October, the selected grapes are taken to the cellar for winemaking. Maceration takes place in 50hl wooden vats and lasts over one hundred days. The wine ages in wood for at least fifteen months, and after blending and bottling, it rests in the cellar for a few more months before being placed on the market.
Tasting the wine by the Ar.pe.pe winery
Garnet red with orange reflections. The aroma is exquisite, with pleasant fruity notes where cherry and plum prevail, leaving room for spicy hints, particularly nutmeg and cloves. Intense and well structured on the palate, the tannins are present but well integrated and silky. The correspondence between aromas and flavour is also excellent. The finish is long and persistent.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meat but also with white meat; risotto and classic spaghetti with meat sauce.
