The Ludvik from the Kante farm
The Ludvik from the Kante farm comes from a blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 30% Terrano, 20% Cabernet and Merlot for the remaining 10% grapes; all the grapes grow in the vineyards owned by the winery, located in the Trieste Karst at an altitude of approximately 250 meters above sea level. Here, the land is red and rich in limestone rock, which allows excellent drainage. Kante has been producing this wine for twenty-three years, and it is one of its flagships.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest of the grapes is strictly manual, in boxes, and takes place only when the grapes have reached the desired level of ripeness. Once in the cellar, the grapes macerate on the skins for two weeks. Part of the wine ages for at least four years in 25-hectoliter barrels, and the other part in second passage French oak barriques. After blending and bottling, the wine rests in the cellar for a few more months before being released onto the market.
Tasting the wine
Intense ruby red. The aroma is elegant, with pleasant notes of berries and plums that alternate with hints of chocolate and spicy scents of black pepper. Harmonious and pleasantly balsamic on the palate, it fully represents the territory of origin. Long and persistent.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Excellent with red meats and game but also with mature cheeses. It’s also worth trying with a nice salami sandwich.
