THE WINE
The Lugana from the Santa Sofia winery is 100% Trebbiano di Lugana grapes grown in the estate vineyards located in the hills of Bardolino; the soils have a morainic-glacial origin that allows the wine to have a rich aromatic complexity.
THE WINEMAKING
After manual harvesting, the selected grapes are taken to the cellar where they are destemmed and softly pressed. The winemaking begins with maceration in steel tanks at a controlled temperature that lasts about ten days; this step allows the preservation of the freshness and aroma of the grapes; the wine ages in stainless steel tanks for a period that varies depending on the vintage. After assembly and bottling, the wine rests for at least three months in the cellar, before being placed in the market.
THE TASTING
Intense straw yellow with greenish reflections; the aroma is elegant with pleasant notes of peach that alternate with hints of tropical fruits, leaving room for floral scents to close with mineral nuances. Fresh and savoury on the palate, this Lugana from the Santa Sofia winery has an almost perfect correspondence between aromas and flavours. The finish is pleasantly long and slightly almondy.
FOOD PAIRINGS
