The wine from Leonardo Palcic
This Malvasia Istriana Primo Taio, from the Leonardo Palcic winery, is produced with 100% Malvasia grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the winery. The vineyards grow on the typical red soil of Istria. The red earth is characteristic of the areas very close to the sea; some of the winery’s vineyards are located just 200 meters from the water.
The wine is so-called Primo Taio (first glass) because it is the lightest and easiest to drink of Leonardo Palcic’s line of Malvasia, and after drinking the first glass, you want to continue with the second one!
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is strictly manual, and only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for vinification. After a soft pressing, we proceed with a fast fermentation on the skins at a controlled temperature. The wine then ages in steel for a few months. After bottling, it is left to rest in the cellar for a few more months before being placed on the market.
Tasting the Malvasia Istriana Primo Taio Istriana by Palcic
Straw yellow with light greenish reflections. The aroma is fragrant with pleasant floral notes where linden prevails, followed by citrus hints in particular of mandarin to end with an aromatic sensation, among which sage stands out. Savoury but very well balanced on the palate. After the first sip, it makes you want to drink the second. Persistence is also good.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Perfect as an aperitif with appetizers, it goes well with fish, even raw,, and with soft cheeses. A must try with pizza!
