THE WINE
The Malvasia Mami from the Poggiarello winery with the red wine Cecco fully represents the typicality of the Piacenza area. As the winery says, these wines smell of decades-long friendship, queues for the Piadina, holidays with friends and Sunday family lunches. Malvasia Mami is the perfect wine for those who want to savour family, love and home.
We are in Val Trebbia near Piacenza in Emilia Romagna; the winery was founded thanks to two families who have continued their philosophy for five generations; all grapes are certified organic and the wine production follows the dictates of tradition.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is manual and partly late to ensure the maximum concentration of aromas and sugars. The selected bunches are placed in cases, taken to the cellar and softly pressed. The must ferments in steel tanks at a controlled temperature only with elected indigenous yeasts. The wine from the sub-ripe grapes ages in second and third-passage oak barrels and the rest refines in stainless steel tanks. After assembly and bottling, the wine rests for a few more months before being released onto the market.
THE TASTING
Deep straw yellow with golden reflections. The aroma is intense with pleasant floral notes of white flowers that alternate with hints of ripe and exotic fruit to close with mineral hints. Fresh and mineral on the palate, the sweet sensation given by the sub-ripe grape part makes the wine easy to drink. The persistence is also excellent.
FOOD PAIRINGS
The Malvasia Mami from Il Poggiarello winery pairs well with fish, soft cheeses and white meats. Try it with pasta with fish sauce.
