The Vigna DecimaMalvasia Wine from Valpanera Winery
The Vigna Decima Malvasia wine from Valpanera Winery comes from 100% Istrian Malvasia grapes, growing in the company’s vineyards near Cortona di Fiumicello, where the Torre stream once flowed. The soils in this area are rich in limestone and primarily consist of silt, sand, and gravel.
This wine is fresh, complex, and velvety with a long and harmonious finish; it matures for at least two years in oak barrels.
THE WINEMAKING
The grape harvest is manual and occurs towards the end of September; only the selected grapes go to the cellar for winemaking, which begins with cryomaceration. Fermentation occurs in 20-hectoliter oak barrels, followed by a long ageing process in oak on the noble lees, with frequent bâtonnage. After blending and bottling, the wine rests in the cellar for at least six more months before being released to the market.
Tasting the wine by Valpanera
This wine is an intense straw yellow colour with pleasant and complex aromas. It features notes of candied fruit that alternate with floral scents, complemented by a fine oak aroma. The wine is fresh and mineral-driven on the palate, boasting a well-structured profile that perfectly aligns with its fragrances and flavours. The finish is long and harmoniously enjoyable.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Vigna Decima Malvasia Riserva Valpanera pairs excellently with fish dishes, including raw options. It’s particularly delightful when enjoyed with seafood risotto.
