THE WINE
The Merlot of the Zorzettig winery is produced with 100% Merlot grapes grown in the municipality of Spessa di Cividale in the eastern hills of Friuli.
Of all the vines arrived from France to Italy in the second half of the nineteenth century, merlot found its ideal territory in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Thanks to the microclimate and terroir, this vine has taken root to such an extent that it is almost considered a native vine.
THE WINEMAKING
In the cellar, the winemaking takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, while for the refinement, the wine ages for at least ten months in tonneaux. After bottling, the wine rests in the cellar for a few more months before being put on the market.
THE TASTING
Deep ruby red. The aroma is intense, with pleasant hints of red fruit and spicy notes. Full and vinous on the palate; the tannins are present but are soft and well-integrated. This wine has an excellent correspondence between aromas and flavours.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Excellent with red meats and game, but also with hard cheeses. Try it with pasta with meat sauce but also with mushroom sauce.
