THE WINE
The Misunderstanding3 Sur-Lit from the La Piotta winery is part of the wines refermented in the bottle with the ancestral method line; the winery defines this line as “minimal intervention” wines because once bottled with the yeasts, they are no longer touched.
The line is named “Misunderstanding” because it seems the wines come from a misunderstanding in the winery! This sparkling wine, in particular, is produced with a riesling grape.
The Padroggi family founded the winery in 1985 and has continued its viticulture philosophy. Since 2005, all wines have been certified organic.
THE WINEMAKING
After carefully selecting the grapes, the winemaking begins with a soft pressing followed by maceration on the skins lasting approximately ten days. The must ferment in steel tanks at a controlled temperature; in the Spring, the wine is bottled with the yeasts for the second fermentation according to the ancestral method. The wine is then put on the market without “disgorgement” with the crown cork.
THE TASTING
Bright amber yellow, the aroma is pleasant, with hints of fresh yellow-fleshed fruit that leaves room for elderberry notes to close with ginger puffs. Fresh and full-bodied on the palate, the tannins are perceptible but very light. This wine is well-structured and has good persistence.
FOOD PAIRINGS
