THE WINE
The Pinot Nero Oltrepò Pavese from the La Piotta winery is part of the line of wines that combines the past, the present and the future; wines attentive to tradition with a wink at innovation. This warm and enveloping Pinot Nero fully represents the uniqueness of the Oltrepò Pavese and its terroir.
The Padroggi family founded the winery in 1985 and has continued its viticulture philosophy. Since 2005, all wines have been certified organic.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is later than usual, and the grapes are carefully selected. Once in the cellar, the winemaking process begins with pressing and fermentation on the skins between fifteen and twenty days at a controlled temperature in steel tanks. The wine ages in steel tanks until the spring following the harvest. After assembly and bottling, the wine rests for a few more months in the cellar, before being released to the market.
THE TASTING
Ruby red tending towards garnet. The aroma is elegant, with pleasant hints of berries that alternate with puffs of liquorice. Well structured and enveloping on the palate; this Pinot Nero Oltrepò Pavese is warm and enveloping with elegant tannins.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meats, game and mature cheeses. Try it with the classic meat barbecue.
