THE WINE
The Montiano vine of the Cotarella family is produced with 100% Merlot grapes grown in Montefiascone and Castiglione di Teverina. We are in the province of Viterbo in Lazio at about 300 meters above sea level; here, the soil is of volcanic origin. The grapes reach an extraordinary level of ripeness here, turning into a wine of the highest elegance, perfectly balanced and charming.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest takes place in the first week of September, and only the selected bunches are brought to the cellar. The winemaking takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with extended maceration on the skins that lasts at least 15 days. The wine then rests in French oak barrels for at least 12 months.
THE TASTING
Intense ruby red. The aroma is elegant, with pleasant notes of red fruits that alternate well with spicy hints and puffs of vanilla. Round and perfectly balanced on the palate, the tannin is present but well polished. Intense and fresh with a good correspondence between aromas and flavour and long persistence.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meat and game but also with hard cheeses.
