THE WINE
The Nero d’Avola from the Tenute Orestiadi winery is made with 100% Nero d’Avola grapes that grow in the vineyards owned by the winery, on dark, alluvial soils rich in clay and sand that are located about 400 meters above sea level.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is strictly manual and only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking which takes place in steel. The wine ages for the first 4 months in steel; it is then moved to French oak barrels where it rests for about 10 months. After assembly and bottling it is left in the cellar for another 6 months before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Intense ruby red with violet highlights. The aroma is broad and elegant, with pleasant notes of wild berries and morello cherries that alternate with mineral hints that in turn leave space to spices scents. Delicate on the palate; the tannins are soft and well balanced. The finish is long and persistent with a pleasant fruity aftertaste.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meat, game but also with hard cheeses. Must try with a typical Sicilian dish, red tuna sfincione.
