The rum 10 Aniversario Cincuenta
Ron Millonario 10 Aniversario Cincuenta is based on the same recipe, maturation and blend as the 10 Aniversario Reserva; it is composed of two-thirds of 6-year-old rums aged in ex-bourbon barrels that guarantee ease of drinking and a fresh taste, and one-third of 10-year-old rums aged in second-passage Spanish sherry barrels, which add richness, depth and complexity, and which are naturally drier and more vinous.
The difference lies in the bottling; it takes place at a higher alcohol content to obtain an easy and sweet rum that at the same time offers a greater intensity of flavour.
The design of the bottle and packaging is also modern and elegant, with the same graphic style as Ron Millonario 10 Aniversario Reserva and the same innovative transparent glass cap in the gold version instead of black.
The Tasting
The aroma shows intense hints of fruit like bananas, pears and apples, which intertwine with vanilla and hints of chocolate. On the palate, it is rich, almost tactile and robust, with pleasant notes of dark chocolate and dried fruit. The high alcohol content accentuates the drier and more vinous flavours of the sherry barrels.
It is perfect for creating cocktails with character and audacity; Ron Millonario 10 Aniversario Cincuenta is ideal neat with ice.
The distillery producing 10 Aniversario Cincuenta and many other rums
Ron Millionario was officially born in 1950, but its history begins much earlier and more precisely in 1904 when a group of farmers founded the Hacienda Agrícola de Chiclayo, a small refinery to trade their sugar in north Peru.
In 1922, the Peruvian landowner family Piera de Castillo purchased the hacienda, the refinery and the vast sugar cane plantation.
In 1933, Don Rolando, the founder of the Piera de Castillo family, sent his firstborn Augusto, to study chemical engineering at Cambridge University. In the summer of 1938, Augusto returned to Peru from England with a ship full of valuable machinery needed to distil rum.
