THE WINE
The Friulano of the Sara & Sara winery is produced with 100% Friulano grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the winery and located in Savorgnano in Torre in the province of Udine. We are about 180-350 meters above sea level, and here the hilly terrain is rich in marl and sandstone.
The winery is organic, from the vineyard to the cellar. There is no use of herbicides, only the mowing of the grass, and for the defence of the territory, only natural methods are practised.
There are no clarifications or stabilizers in the wines. The winery uses only natural decanting, and some wines are not even filtered.
Of this wine, 3p00 bottles are produced every year.
THE WINEMAKING
The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in small boxes. Once in the cellar, the winemaking starts with a soft pressing of the whole grapes and a subsequent decanting, which lasts at least 24 hours. Fermentation takes place at natural temperature with only the use of wild yeasts that are periodically kept in suspension.. The wine ages for at least ten months in stainless steel tanks. After bottling, it rests for another five months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Straw yellow. The aroma is intense and complex, with pleasant notes of ripe fruit alternating with hints of aromatic herbs to finish with the characteristic scent of bitter almond. Soft and round on the palate, with a pleasant freshness and minerality. This Friulano fully represents the most representative grape variety of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Perfect as an aperitif, it goes well with cold cuts, fish, and white meats.
