The Pinot Bianco Lepus wine by the Franz Haas winery
The Pinot Bianco Lepus of the Franz Haas winery is produced with 100% Pinot Bianco grapes grown in vineyards owned by the winery. Located in South Tyrol and, more precisely, in the province of Bolzano. The vines grow on soils that in this area have textures that vary from the lightest sands to the heaviest cobblestones rich in minerals; they are all located at an altitude that varies between 400 and 800 meters above sea level.
The Haas family has been running this winery for seven generations, and over the years, it has become one of the flags of South Tyrol.
THE WINEMAKING
After manual harvesting, the selected grapes are taken to the cellar for winemaking. The must ferments at a controlled temperature, mainly in steel tanks and for a small part in French oak barriques. The wine ages on the lees for at least five months, and after bottling, it rests for a few months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
Tasting the Pinot Bianco Lepus by Franz Haas winery
Brilliant straw yellow. The aroma is delicate, with pleasant fruity notes of apples that alternate with spicy hints to close with sensations of wildflowers and puffs of fresh bread. Soft and warm on the palate, this Pinot Bianco is undoubtedly fresh, sapid and with good persistence.
It is essential to know that Pinot Bianco needs at least four or five months of ageing in the bottle to best express all its characteristics.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with white meats but also with fish and soft cheeses. Try it with dishes with curry spice.
