Chardonnay Wine from the Forchir Winery
The Chardonnay wine by Forchir winery comes from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in the vineyards of the Forchir winery, located in the DOC Friuli area, which is well-suited for Friulian wine production.
Like most wines grown for centuries in Friuli, Chardonnay has French origins, coming from Burgundy. The Friulian terroir is particularly well-suited for this delicate grape, as it thrives in lean soils and cool climates.
THE WINEMAKING
The Forchir winery conducts the grape harvest at night, allowing the grapes to arrive at the cellar during the coolest hours of the day. This practice ensures that the grapes can be processed at low temperatures, which is crucial for preserving their aromatic profile.
The harvest occurs in August. After careful selection, the grapes go to the cellar, where the winemaking process begins with a gentle pressing. The must then ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 12°C. The wine ages in these tanks for a varying period, depending on the vintage. Once ready, the wine is blended and bottled and rests for a few months in the cellar.
