THE WINE
The Pinot Grigio from the Zof farm comes from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes from the vineyards owned by the winery. We are in Corno di Rosazzo in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, a small area with a great wine tradition known worldwide. In Corno di Rosazzo, the climate, exposure, and the soil are fundamental factors for excellent wine production.
A family-run business for four generations with fifteen hectares of vineyards equally divided between white wines and red wines with native and non-native grapes. Zof has also boasted the collaboration of Donato Lanati for over ten years, the oenologist-scientist known throughout the wine world for his qualities and philosophy.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest takes place at the first half of September. Once in the cellar, the grapes are destemmed, softly pressed and left to ferment in steel tanks. Both winemaking and refinement take place in steel. Between April and May following the harvest, the wine is assembled, bottled, and, left to rest for a few months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Deep straw yellow, the aroma is elegant and fresh with pleasant hints of acacia flowers that alternate with notes of nutmeg. This Pinot Grigio from the Zof winery is fine and delicate on the palate, dry and well structured, with a good correspondence between aromas and flavor and a pleasantly bitter finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with fish, white meats, cheeses, and cold cuts. Try it with a plate of gnocchi with meat sauce.
