THE WINE
The Pinot Nero Casanova from the Castello di Spessa winery is part of the Collio line and, it is 100% Pinot Nero grapes grown in vineyards owned by the winery and located in Capriva del Friuli. The vineyards are in the heart of the DOC Friuli, not far from the border with Slovenia, where the soil is mainly made up of clay and sand with gravel that in Friuli is known as “ponca”.
THE WINEMAKING
After the harvest, the selected grapes are taken to the cellar for winemaking. Fermentation occurs in oak vats at a constant temperature of 25°C. After the fermentation, the wine is transferred to French oak barriques and left to age in the Castello di Spessa bunker for about 12 months. After assembly and bottling, the wine rests for a few more months in the cellar before being released onto the market.
THE TASTING
Deep ruby red; the aroma is intense with notes of small red fruits where the berries prevail, which alternate with pleasant spicy hints. Warm and velvety on the palate, the Pinot Nero Casanova is an elegant wine with a perfect correspondence between the aromas and the flavor and a long and pleasantly persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Perfect with red meat and medium-hard cheeses, try it with the classic summer barbecue with friends.
