The Wine
The Pinot Nero Rodel Pianezzi from the Pojer e Sandri winery owes its name to the place where the grapes are grown. Rodel Pianezzi is located 500 meters above sea level with a fairly windy exposure thanks also to the proximity of Lake Garda. These are Burgundy clones, vines that are more than 35 years old.
THE WINEMAKING
After the manual harvest, only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats while aging happens in small oak barrels and lasts about 12 months. After assembly and bottling, the wine rests an additional year in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Ruby red with purple reflections reminiscent of the aubergine peel. The aroma is fresh with pleasant notes of red fruits such as raspberry and blackberry that alternate with hints of cherry and plums to close with scents of tobacco and spices due to the time spent in wood. Harmonious on the palate, the tannins are silky and smooth. Complex with a persistent finish and a spicy aftertaste.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Excellent with red meat, game and hard cheeses. Try it with poultry and in particular with goose and duck.
