The Pinot Noir Mazon from Castelfeder winery
Pinot Noir Mazon from Castelfeder Winery takes its name from the plateau where the grapes grow. Mazzon is a small village in the municipality of Egma among the vineyards next to the Monte Corno Natural Park, between 300-450m above sea level. The vineyards benefit from the evening sun and the fresh autumn winds that come out in the evening. These vineyards used Dijon clones, giving life to absolute excellence within the panorama of the great reds of Alto Adige.
The label depicts the vineyards and the ruins of the Kaldiff castle of the Lords of Enn. Legend has it that several treasures are buried here, guarded by two enormous dogs with fiery eyes.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is strictly manual. Once in the cellar, the selected grapes are destemmed and left to macerate in steel tanks for ten to fourteen days. The wine ages about twelve months in small used barrels; after assembly and bottling, it rests for about three months in the cellar before being released on the market.
Tasting the Pinot Noir Mazon from Castelfeder
Bright ruby red, the aroma is elegant with pleasant floral hints of violet that alternate with fruity notes of raspberry and cherry to continue with aromatic herbs and close with spices. Round on the palate, this Pinot Nero Mazon is a wine of character, powerful with an excellent structure and a very long and persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Pinot Noir Glen goes well with red meats, game and hard cheeses. Try it with mushroom risotto.
