THE WINE
The Ramandolo wine is an extraordinarily balanced “sweet and not sweet” passito wine. Produced with 100% yellow verduzzo grapes, Ramandolo takes its name from a tiny village of the municipality of Nimis, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli.
This wine remains today a real rarity because there are just over 150,000 bottles produced every year.
That of the Filippon winery is very particular; in fact, unlike what has been handed down by tradition, the winery does not harvest the grapes until the botrytis has settled on the bunches. This implies that sometimes the harvest takes place in the month of November.
THE WINEMAKING
Once in the cellar, the wine ferments slowly and ages in French oak barriques for at least 24 months; after a light filtration it is bottled and left to rest in the cellar for another 6 months before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
The color is golden, pleasant notes of saffron alternate with hints of apricot and pleasant puffs of amaretto. Fresh and perfectly balanced on the palate with a never cloying residual sugar.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Meditation wine, to be sipped in relaxation.
