The Rosso “Villa Oleis” of the Ronco delle Betulle
The Rosso “Villa Oleis” of the Ronco delle Betulle winery is a bland of Merlot and Cabernet Franc produced with grapes grown in the territory of Rosazzo in Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is an average structured wine that comes from the youngest vines of the winery
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is strictly manual. Once in the cellar, the grapes are de-stemmed, cooled and left to macerate at controlled temperature for about 7 days. After a soft pressing, the wine ages for about 8 months, 50% in steel and 50% in Slovenian oak barrels. After assembly, bottling takes place in July following the harvest. The wine then rests for a few months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
Tasting the Rosso of the winery
Ruby red. The aroma is fresh with pleasant notes of red fruit that go well with the spicy hints due to the passage in wood. Elegant on the palate, medium-bodied with an excellent correspondence between perfumes and flavor. Also the persistence is good.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Ideal with medium-hard cheeses and cold cuts. Must try with mix barbecued meat.
THE WINERY
We are located in the town of Rosazzo near Manzano in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Here in 1967 the Ronco delle Betulle company was founded thanks to the vision of Giovanbattista Adami, Simone’s grandfather, who bought 7 hectares of land in this location particularly devoted to viticulture.
At the beginning of the 1980s, the reins of the company passed to Ivana Adami, daughter of the founder. Ivana certainly brought an innovative footprint to the company; she decided to bottle all the wines that until then were sold in bulk, and to expand the size of the winery by purchasing new land. Today the winery has 12 hectares of vineyards, all located on the Rosazzo hill… go to the winery page
