THE WINE
The Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso from the Di Gaspero winery is one of the flagships of the winery, is produced with 100%Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso grapes grown in vineyards owned by the winery. We are in Dolegnano, a small hill town in the heart of the DOC Colli Orientali del Friuli, located in the province of Udine. This area is known worldwide for the quality of the wines produced. This Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is a perfect example of this quality.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest happens the second ten days of October, and only the selected bunches are taken to the cellar for winemaking. The bunch is destemmed, keeping the berry whole. After a soft pressing, the must is left in wooden barrels for seven or eight days with frequent pumping, allowing the wine to reach the desired colour and tannins. After pressing, the must continues its evolution in steel for six to eight months. The wine then ages eight months in wooden barrels and another three months in steel barrels. After blending and bottling, the wine rests for a period in the cellar before being released on the market.
THE TASTING
Ruby red with purplish reflections that fade over time. The aroma is intense, with pleasant notes of red fruits such as blackberry and berries that alternate herbaceous hints. Decisive and slightly tannic on the palate, pleasantly bitter with a good correspondence between aromas and flavour.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Perfect with red meats, hard cheeses and game. Try it with traditional Friulian dishes.
