The wine Moscato Secco by Alberto Rizzo winery
The SA’DFIU’ of the Alberto Rizzo winery comes from Moscato grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the company. We are located on the hills of the Langhe which today are a UNESCO heritage site. This Moscato vineyard is on the Mango hills, 500 meters above sea level; here the soil is clayey and calcareous.
Alberto is a young wine producer who has just started his dream but who has a long winemaking tradition behind him. The peculiarity of this Moscato is that it is dry and has nothing to do with the wine we all think of when we talk about Moscato. It’s worth tasting it to understand the difference.
The name SA’DFIU’ comes from the Piedmontese dialect and translates as “It tastes like a flower”; on the label, the letters DF are in yellow. Alberto did it to pay homage to his grandfather (Duilio Fedele) who passed on his passion for wine.
THE WINEMAKING
The grapes are manually harvested. Once in the cellar, the winemaking begins with spontaneous fermentation and maceration on the skins which lasts from 24 to 48 hours depending on the vintage. After soft pressing, the wine ferments in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 20-25° C. The refinement takes place in steel tanks and lasts about six months. After blending and bottling, the wine rests for a few more months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
