The Wine
The Marena of the Mamete Prevostini winery is produced with 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in the are of Castione and Sondrio at an altitude that varies between 350 and 550 meters above sea level where the soil is mainly sandy and silty.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is strictly manual and only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking. After a gentle destemming, the grapes are lightly pressed and sent to the stainless steel tanks. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 25 ° C; the must macerates for 13 days on the skins. After pressing, the wine ages for about12 months in oak barrels; followed by assembly, bottling and a further 8 months of rest in the cellar.
THE TASTING
Ruby red with light garnet reflections. The aroma is fine and intense with hints of small red fruits that are intertwined with notes of morello cherry to close with light hazelnut puffs. Harmonious and velvety on the palate, it is a well-structured wine with a good persistence.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meat, game and hard cheeses. Must try with grilled meat.
