THE WINE
The Primitivo Sasseo of the Masseria Altamura winery is produced with 100% Primitivo. We are talking about one of the winery’s flagship wines; known and appreciated both in Italy and abroad.
THE WINEMAKING
The grapes are harvested manually only when fully ripe and only the selected ones are brought to the cellar for winemaking. Fermentation takes place in steel in contact with the skins at a controlled temperature for about 15 days. The wine then ages in large Slovenian oak barrels for about 12 months and after bottling it rests for a few more months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Intense ruby red with light garnet highlights. The aroma is elegant with hints of ripe red fruit that leave room for spicy notes; closing with light balsamic puffs. Warm and fresh on the palate; a full-bodied wine with lively but well integrated tannins. Excellent correspondence between taste and aromas. Persistence is also good.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meat, game and hard cheeses.
