Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
Jack Daniel’s “Old No. 7” is an American Tennessee whiskey produced by Jack Daniel’s distillery. Established in 1866, its popularity stems from the unique processing of ingredients, ageing in wood, and, above all, its rich taste that delights the senses of those who enjoy it. The distillery is located in Lynchburg, a small town with only 361 inhabitants in the 19th century. The whiskey is a creation of Jasper Newton “Jack” Daniel, one of thirteen brothers from a family of Welsh descent.
The primary ingredient in “Old No. 7” is high-quality corn, complemented by small amounts of rye and barley. The traditional long distillation process is still adhered to today. The water used to dilute the alcohol comes from Cave Spring Hollow, a pure spring. After being filtered drop by drop through three meters of activated maple carbon, the whiskey matures in fine American white oak barrels. Bottling follows the distillery’s ancient traditions and occurs only when the whiskey has achieved its full aromatic maturity.
The Tasting
The whiskey is amber in colour with sweet notes of caramel and vanilla on the nose, intertwined with smoky and toasted wood nuances. It is intense and rich on the palate, showcasing a character that perfectly balances sweetness and wood toasting.
