THE WINE
This Toscana Rosso is produced with 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Le Regge is located in the heart of Tuscany not far from Greve in Chianti. The winery is a young with 18 hectares of vineyards that surround the winery itself.
The family has chosen to work in full respect of the environment with manual collection and selection. In fact, the Regge produces also extra virgin olive oil and wildflower honey. Honey produced thanks to the precious work of the indigenous bees but it is not on sales; it is produced in small quantities and only for the benefit of the family.
THE WINEMAKING
The grape harvest is strictly manual and takes place for the merlot during the last ten days of September and in October for the cabernet sauvignon.
Fermentation and maceration both takes place in steel tanks and last for 22 to 25 days. The wine rests for 30 days on the fine lees. The wine then ages for 18 months in large oak barrels and after assembling and bottling, it rests for few months in che cellar before been placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Purple red. The aroma is intense, the fruity notes are of small red fruits, the floral aromas are reminiscent of violets and the spicy hints of leather and tobacco. Intense, soft, enveloping on the palate with great structure and elegant tannins.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with red meats, grilled meats and game; but also with hard cheeses.
