Ribolla Gialla Wine from the Forchir Winery
The Ribolla Gialla wine by Forchir winery comes from 100% Ribolla Gialla grapes grown in the vineyards of the Forchir winery, located in the DOC Friuli area, which is well-suited for Friulian wine production.
Ribolla Gialla is an ancient vine native to Friuli. Cultivated since Roman times in the region, it has also spread to Slovenia and Croatia. In recent decades, it has gained recognition beyond its regional borders and has earned the title of the most well-known and appreciated native wine from Friuli.
THE WINEMAKING
The Forchir winery conducts the grape harvest at night, allowing the grapes to arrive at the cellar during the coolest hours of the day. This practice ensures that the grapes can be processed at low temperatures, which is crucial for preserving their aromatic profile.
The harvest occurs in August. After careful selection, the grapes go to the cellar, where the winemaking process begins with a gentle pressing. The must then ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16°C. The wine ages in these tanks for a varying period, depending on the vintage. Once ready, the wine is blended and bottled and rests for a few months in the cellar.
Tasting the wine by Forchir
This wine is a pale straw yellow colour with golden reflections. On the nose, it offers pleasant fruity aromas of pear and white peach, which are complemented by floral notes of acacia and white rose, finishing with hints of summer hay. On the palate, the Ribolla Gialla di Forchir is pleasantly soft, fresh, and savoury, with a long and persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Ribolla Gialla di Forchir is ideal for aperitifs. It pairs wonderfully with fish, including raw varieties and white meats. It’s excellent with fish risotto; try it with mixed fried fish.
