THE WINE
The Rosso Conero San Lorenzo from the Umani Ronchi winery takes its name from the vineyard it comes from, located in Osimo, where the soils are predominantly clayey and calcareous.
This 100% Montepulciano grapes red wine represents the combination of the terroir and the vine; a warm and enveloping wine with round and silky tannins, great for meat dinners with friends.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is strictly manual and occurs between the end of September and the first ten days of October when the grapes are fully ripe. Once in the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and softly pressed. The must macerates on the skins in steel tanks for about ten days; fermentation occurs in the same steel containers. The refinement lasts about twelve months and takes place for 50% of the wine in large oak barrels (from 50 to 80 hl) and the other 50% in third and even fourth-passage oak barriques. After assembly and bottling, the wine rests for at least six months in the cellar before being released on the market.
THE TASTING
Bright ruby red with garnet reflections. The aroma is pleasant, with intense fruity scents where cherry and berries prevail, leaving room for slightly spicy puffs due to the passage in wood. Rich and pulpy on the palate, this Rosso Conero San Lorenzo is a harmonious wine where the tannins are silky and very well integrated, and the finish is long and persistent.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It pairs well with red meat and hard and tasty cheeses. Try it with a nice plate of ravioli with bolognese ragù.
