THE WINE
The “Casal di Serra” Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi Superiore from the Umani Ronchi winery is 100% Verdicchio grapes grown on the Verdicchio hills in the Marche region between 200 and 350 meters above sea level. Produced for the first time in 1983, this label expresses the typicality of a great native vine.
The carefully selected grapes come from the Montecarotto vineyards and vineyards in the areas best suited to growing Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi; the “Casal di Serra” is a rich, elegant and well-balanced wine.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is strictly manual and occurs between the end of September and the first ten days of October when the grapes are fully ripe. Once in the cellar, the grapes are softly pressed, and only the free-run must is cooled and left to decant statically. Fermentation occurs in steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 16 and 18°C that lasts about 10-15 days depending on the vintage. The wine ages for about five months in steel tanks; in April following the harvest, the wine is assembled, bottled and left to rest for a few more months in the cellar before being released onto the market.
THE TASTING
Straw yellow with golden reflections; the aroma is intense with pleasant notes of wild flowers intertwining with hints of yellow-fleshed fruit such as golden apple and peach. Rich and velvety on the palate, Casal di Serra is a fresh wine with a pleasant savoury note and a persistent and pleasantly fruity finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with white meat, baked fish and soft cheeses. Try it with the classic grilled fish.
