THE WINE
The Verdicchio di Metallica Riserva Jera from the Borgo Paglianetto winery is produced with 100% Verdicchio grapes from the oldest vineyards owned by the winery and represents the maximum expression of the vineyard it belongs to. The name Jera derives from the runic alphabet used by the old Germanic populations and represented the harvest and cyclical change.
Jera is an elegant wine that represents the expression of the evolutionary potential of “Verdicchio di Matelica”. A wine capable of surprising the most demanding palates.
THE WINEMAKING
After the manual harvest which takes place in October, only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The refinement takes place in steel where the wine rests on indigenous yeasts for about 36 months. Assembly, bottling and a 8-month rest in the cellar follows before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Intense straw yellow with golden reflections; the aroma is intense and complex with pleasant fruity notes of yellow fruit such as peach and medlar, leaving room for herbaceous and floral hints of broom leaving room for scents of aromatic herbs. Fresh and pleasantly savory on the palate, very well balanced with a perfect correspondence between aromas and flavor. Persistence is also excellent.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with fish, white meat, and hard cheeses. Try it with grilled fish.
