Ronco delle Betulle Winery - Friuli Venezia Giulia

We are located in the town of Rosazzo near Manzano in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Here in 1967 the Ronco delle Betulle company was founded thanks to the vision of Giovanbattista Adami, Simone’s grandfather, who bought 7 hectares of land in this location particularly devoted to viticulture.

At the beginning of the 1980s, the reins of the company passed to Ivana Adami, daughter of the founder. Ivana certainly brought an innovative footprint to the company; she decided to bottle all the wines that until then were sold in bulk, and to expand the size of the winery by purchasing new land. Today the winery has 12 hectares of vineyards, all located on the Rosazzo hill.

The search for the company logo also has a peculiar history. Walking in the vineyard, Ivana came across a swarm of butterflies, the experience was so beautiful that the choice of the butterfly was almost mandatory; today it still appears on all Ronco delle Betulle wine labels.

About 12 years ago, Simone, Ivana’s son,joined the company and still carries on, together with his mother, his grandfather’s legacy.

Ronco delle Betulle is certified organic since the 2019 vintage; on the filed there is as little intervention as possible; respecting both the land and nature and the biodiversity. Recently the winery has also created a natural phytodepuration process where all the processing waters of the cellar are conveyed into a natural tank, filled with volcanic stones and perennials plants with deep roots; these have the task of filtering the water which is then used for irrigation. Ronco delle Betulle is the first winery in Friuli Venezia Giulia to have implemented this process.

If you are in the area we highly recommend you to go and take a walk in the Ronco delle Betulle vineyards. If you go there in the summer months, in addition to many and colorful butterflies, you can enjoy the flowers that grow on the grass. Simone explained us that a nice uniform mantle of grass between the rows helps to drain the water well when it rains and, to have a biodiversity especially as regards the “useful” insects that feed on “not so useful” ones.
