Tiare the Winery
Tiare is a winery in Dolegna del Collio, Friuli Venezia Giulia, in one of the region’s most notable winemaking areas; it includes the DOC Collio, known for its marly soil and a microclimate that is exceptionally suited for producing white wines, as well as the DOC Isonzo, where the gravel-rich terroir is ideal for red wines.
Roberto Snidarcig manages Tiare, along with his wife, Sandra; the winery was born in 1985 with just one hectare of vineyard, and it has grown into a winery encompassing approximately 10 hectares of vineyards, producing high-quality wines.
The Soil
Tiare wines are unique due in part to the vineyard’s location, which benefits from significant temperature variations between day and night, as well as the quality of the soil. The company has conducted studies to analyze the soil and identify its nutritional elements, essential in characterizing the final product; as Tiare wanted to promote biological balance, the vineyards are interplanted with various grasses in the autumn; in Spring, these plants attract beneficial insects, and after flowering, they are buried to enhance soil oxygen levels and improve the quantity and quality of organic matter.
Pruning
The relationship between the quantity of leaves and the number of grape bunches is another critical aspect of the winery. Extensive studies have been carried out to determine the optimal balance between leaves and bunches to produce high-quality wines and, each vine is treated individually.
