During the night of San Lorenzo, a wonderful initiative has been taking place for a long time. On August 10th in the squares and in the Italian cellars the wine lovers are protagonists of the most awaited toast of the summer: Goblets of Stars.

The Wine Tourism and Wine City Movement, come together to give life to an event that concerns many others. From the Val d’Aosta to Sicily. Wine, culture and the magic of the territories. All made more magical by the fact that it happens under the stars. A formula that combines the philosophy of good drinking with events, shows, design and art.

The beauty of the event

Beauty, elegance and brightness. Common features of a beautiful sky and a good wine. Thanks to this magnificent event with a glass of good wine in hand you can look up at the stars and admire the swarm of meteors of the Perseids. This year there will be a particularly favorable situation for observation. You can in fact admire the so-called “tears of San Lorenzo” in a dark sky, completely devoid of disturbance caused by the moonlight. We will have the New Moon on August 11th: our natural satellite will not be visible during the nights of maximum swarm activity. The number of meteors observable to the naked eye could reach 80-100 meteors every hour.

Opportunities

As the highlight of the Perseids will occur from late evening wine lovers will have time to participate in the initiatives and tastings scheduled. There will be several cities of Wine and in the cellars of the Wine Tourism Movement for the various events of Calici di Stelle. In locations where observatories will be set up with telescopes made available by amateur astronomers, waiting for the “shooting stars”, you can still enjoy a fantastic “starter” between stars and particularly bright planets. The various events organized in the different locations will take place between 2 and 12 August 2018.

Also for this edition of Calici di Stelle, the Associazione Città del Vino is the “La Stella di Federica” ​​contest, dedicated to the photographic shots sent by the participants to the various events that best describe the event.

Goblets of Stars has reached the twenty-first edition. It is in fact considered the summer appointment of greatest importance in the panorama of national enotourism. So do not miss this magical summer night! It will be an opportunity to spend quality time in company!
