Hello
I had a chat with Sandra about Franciacorta and the Tenuta Martinelli winery. Sandra is a beautiful person that I will introduce better shortly; also because I will involve her more often in our wine discussions.
Sandra is an excellent sommelier and the owner, together with her husband Fabrizio, of the La Nicchia wine shop in Osoppo here in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Where is the “region” Franciacorta located?
With Sandra, I talked about this “region”; a small (about 200 km) but fantastic area between Brescia and the southern part of Lake Iseo; we are in Lombardy. Here, the soil and the microclimate have made this strip of land perfect for cultivating vines and producing the classic method sparkling wine known worldwide as the Franciacorta DOCG.
The name and the production
With Sandra, I learned where the name Franciacorta comes from, what rules the producers of this beautiful sparkling wine must follow; those rules are dictated by the regulations, and the most evident differences between Franciacorta and other famous bubbles from Trento DOC or Champagne.
How to choose a good sparkling wine
I also asked Sandra how to choose a good Franciacorta without always “falling” on the famous and well-known wineries.
In this regard, we talked a little about the wines of the Tenuta Martinelli winery. This winery is probably unknown to many but offers two sparkling wines, A Brut and a Saten, of the highest level with an excellent relationship between quality and price.
A few weeks ago, I passed by Tenuta Martinelli…
Here below the link to watch the video of our chat… It is in Italian, but it has subtitles!
Watch it and let me know what you think, and taste the wines too !!!!!
See you soon
ciao
