The puff pastry Dove

The puff pastry dove is a finger food in the shape of a very fast and super greedy dove, perfect as an appetizer or an aperitif for Easter lunch. But also as an extra dish, flanked by other Easter recipes. In fact, thanks to this recipe you can save a lot of time to devote to preparing other delicious dishes. The Colomba di Pasta sfoglia is very good also cold so you can prepare it in advance. And it’s also ideal for the Easter Monday picnic!

Ingredients

Quantity for 1 paper mold d to 500 gr (8 people)
2 packages of rectangular puff pastry
250 gr of Hungarian salami cut into thin slices
250 of fontina
2 courgettes
1 yolk

Procedure

To make the salt puff pastry, remove the ends of the zucchini and cut them in half lengthwise. Using a potato peeler cut into thin slices that you keep aside together with the fontina (also cut into slices) and Hungarian salami. Roll out the puff pastry on the worktop. Divide it in the direction of the highest length, so as to obtain rather long strips that have all about 5cm of base. At this point you have a slice of salami, a courgette and a cheese on each.

Roll each stuffed strip on itself, in order to get a rose and rocedete in the same way.

Seal the closure perfectly with a drop of water. Place them inside the dove mold making sure to close the bottom with a pinch before placing it in the mold, so that the filling does not leak to the bottom. Furthermore, they should be distanced appropriately because they will grow a little bit of size during cooking. Proceed continuing until they have finished all the ingredients.

Store your puff pastry dove in the fridge for at least 20 minutes.

Brush the surface with egg yolk and water.

Place the mold on a baking sheet and bake in preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 40-50 minutes, until it becomes golden.

Taste the dove of warm pastry or at room temperature.

Being mainly an appetizer to serve during the aperitif I invite you to taste it with sparkling wine or with a prosecco.

I wish you happy Easter! Ilde
